Hi, I plan on starting an online business to distribute apps, games and an operating system in the (very) far future. What programming language should I learn for this? Hi folks, So I plan on becoming a self employed IT technician (Yes I know it's a popular trade and almost everyone does it, however I have seen a weakness in the market which I feel I could benefit from) What I'm asking is how do I seek a supplier for items like hardware and software, (i.e. an OEM supplier) I have tried searching over Google but being a new business it seem's hard to try and find a supplier that will supply a new company! This is my first time around being self-employed and having to fill out those dreaded tax return papers. I ‘am absolutely dreading it because I don't have a clue what to expect as I have never done it before. I have kept all my records according to plan as best as I possibly can in hope they are accurate, I ‘am dreading it in case HMRC pull me up about anything or have to look into all my paperwork because I ‘am only young. I own a very small business, it is very difficult to keep track of everything because of the amount of transaction I deal with on a daily bases and I cannot afford an accountant and I ‘am no maths mastication either. What will they want to know? Do they have high expectations to get every last detail correct? I work part time and earn roughly £1,000 - £1,500 profits per month, how much tax will I be expected to pay out of this? How long do I have to pay after they have issued the tax forms this and can I pay it in parts? And also what is a tax return pay, do I qualify for this? I ‘am so confused as I have never delbt with this before and have not been given much information over the phone in my attempts at phoning HMRC. Any advice or anything you know about the tax system and booking keeping would be fantastic. I also work from home, can I get costs off my heating/electricity/phone bills if they are used during work hours, when and how do I mention this to Customs? Ok, so I'm soon to graduate with a degree in software engineering and I studied business studies at college so I'm fully capable of setting up some sort of automated e-commerce website. The problem is that I have no where to store stock, nor do I want to mess around physically posting orders (because that's not automated). This is the only wall I can see in an automated business. I want to know if it's possible to be able to have a direct connection between manufacturer/wholesaler and customer, so that when an order is made on my end, the product is produced and sent straight to the customer. Now, I couldn't really see this working with the general consumer at 1 product per time because manufacturers and wholesalers don't produce/sell 1 product at a time, but as another company buying in bulk I could see it happening. So my job is essentially the middle man, to take orders, process them and get the wholesaler to send to that location but make it seem like my company is the wholesaler (kinda). The main point to consider: is this business plan legal? If not, what will I have to do to make it legal? Is this style of business plan called something? Any topics to research would be helpful, as I have no leads at the moment. Reason behind this is because over the next year or so I will be (want to be) in different countries so most of the business needs to be automated, but I can still manage the business over the internet. The point is I can't be physically involved with distribution. Hi I have had a couple of emails one from Google apparently and another from www.markmonitor.com, apparently saying that my website is part of a Phishing scam? My host has check the website and found a couple of malicious files that have been quaratined but other than that. When you visited my website last week someone had hacked in and replaced the index.php with another one so that people visiting the home page saw this horrible image. The website has been taken back to the last backup, which was certainly before the hack, but i've had these 2 emails today, is it a coincidence? I'm trying to download WordPress to build a number of sites for a variety of businesses I'm involved in to greater or lesser extent. Obviously I've downloaded and installed software programs from the internet before but I'm baffled about this one. I'm using an Acer laptop and a domestic WIFI connection; I assume I have to use the FTP rather than a remote web server..or do I have a remote web server? I have no idea. Last time I built a site I just used an FTP to upload the site files to the web. I plan to build a number of sites, the first will be for a friend who we have agreed will pay for her own hosting via ipage. So although I'm using remote hosting, I think I'd rather do a direct install to my own laptop rather than use remote host install so I'm flexible later as I have other sites I need to edit and build. So I am 14, and currently studying English, Science (chemistry, biology and physics), Maths, Geography, ICT, TECH (electronics), BTEC Business studies. I am looking to go for A levels in two years. I have not really thought about uni. I really enjoy IT hardware (not to brag but i know A LOT for my age), programming/coding (HTML etc) and really enjoy business too. I run my own small business and in January I got in touch with a web designer to design me a new website after 8 months of waiting and lack of comms(I should have done something sooner I know)I asked to see some sort of finished article, I got told all the excuses in the book but after demanding to see something I was shown a website that looked awful what was worse was it had hardly any of the features I had asked for. So after spending an hour on the phone he promised he would have something designed by Tuesday so I waited and tru to his word he had something designed or should I say he downloaded free website design software then just altered the theme and my logo ect. Anyway the work stopped again and now my business was starting to suffer he didn't return calls or texts so I demanded access to the backend of the site which he gave me and over the last 3 weeks I have done pretty much all the work that's on there, the only bits left were things I couldn't deal with. he launched the site under severe pressure from me and asked him to just change the spelling errors on banners ect guess what he didn't change them so I then had to create my own banners and import them so they were correct, 2 of the main features of the site aren't working emails and another feature and were now at 10 months. So what I want to ask is can I do anything can I sack him and take my site with me to another server and get someone else to finish it or would he just delete my site if I did this?
